Bedford, NH, June 8, 2021. Back River Sports Complex (BRSC) is excited to announce that Seacoast United Soccer Club (SUSC) will become the new anchor tenant as of July 1st, 2021 and will assume a management role for the facility as a whole. Lenny Webb will continue in his role as Facility General Manager.
Seacoast United will bring its years of experience in facility management, in addition to providing new opportunities to local players due to their participation in the leading league platforms in the US.
“Lots of clubs and club leaders talk about player development but there are only a few who commit the significant resources needed to create better facilities for their players,’ said Paul Willis, Founder and President of Seacoast United. “Jay Joseph and his Board, in partnership with Joe and Pete Bradley, developed this facility and we will now add to that by creating more opportunities for the soccer community of Bedford and beyond.”
Back River was developed in 2015 when the grass surfaces were replaced with state of the art multi-use AstroTurf fields. The transition from grass to turf extended the season for local players dramatically, increasing the opportunity for contact time with coaches, as the fall and spring seasons are able to run longer and start earlier, due to the turf fields and the addition of lights. The introduction of the turf was a fulfillment of a promise that had been made to the NH Classics who partnered with GPS as an affiliate 2 years prior to the development of the fields.
The existing field complex has been part of the NH Classics organization for over 15 years. In 2011 the Classics, Granite SC and GPS merged to create New Hampshire Premier Soccer Academy (NHPSA), later to become GPS NH.
“The NH Classics were looking at options to sustain and improve on what had been developed over many years. Partnering with GPS and the Bradley brothers offered that opportunity,” said Jay Joseph, former President of the NH Classics. “The overall player experience improved, and we fulfilled our ambition of further developing Back River into a quality facility to serve Bedford and the surrounding communities.”
In conjunction with the exciting news regarding Seacoast’s increased involvement at the BRSC field complex, both turf fields will be upgraded this summer. Both Turf fields will be replaced one field at a time so that there will be no interruption to usage, with expected completion for the beginning of August.
